Holistic nursing for transcatheter interventional treatment of retinoblastoma in children during postoperative period

Objective To summarize the methods about holistic nursing for transcatheter interventional treatment of retinoblastoma in children during postoperative period. Methods From March 2009 to December 2015, 421 children with retinoblastoma treated by transcatheter interventional treatment with selective ophthalmic arterial injection had been holistic nursed. Results 421 children were performed transcatheter intervention successfully and discharged within 1 week. After interventional treatment, 158 children had a fever, 94 nausea and vomiting, and 71 had been eyelid edema and hyperaemia, 57 mild to moderate myelosuppression, 64 eyelid red pigmentation,and 32 enophthalmos. Conclusion The optimization process of postoperative nursing with the service concept of holistic nursing reduced the incidence of complications, which pays attention to life care, diet guidance, pain nursing and is conducive to the rehabilitation of patients and improves the quality of children’s life.
