Call for Presentations

The deadline to send the submission is now passed. The notifications will be sent by Thursday 15 March  2018.

1. Sub-themes

The organizing committee invites proposals on any aspect of applied linguistics and ELT in Asia. Proposals that target the following sub-themes are especially welcome.
1)    Language planning and language policy
2)    Methodologies and teaching approaches
3)    Curriculum, syllabus design and Materials design
4)    Assessment and evaluation
5)    Second language acquisition and literacy development
6)    English for academic/specific purposes
7)    Teacher education and professional development
8)    Programme management and leadership development
9)    Digital literacies/language learning and technology
10)  Intercultural communication and global competencies
11)  Plurilingualism, translanguaging and multilingual education
12)  World Englishes/English as a lingua franca
13)  Identity and learner autonomy
14)  Discourse/genre analysis
15)  Creativity and critical literacies
16)  Teaching younger learners

2. Presentation types

All presentations will be given in English. Presenters are encouraged to submit full papers of their presentation to The Journal of Asia TEFL, the association's refereed scholarly journal, to be considered for publication. 
Paper: 25 minutes oral presentation session, of which 5 minutes are for discussion.
Workshop: 45 minutes session for presenters to share practical skills, techniques or ideas in an interactive format. 
● Colloquia: 90 minutes panel session with 3 to 6 speakers. Colloquia provide a platform for different presenters to present a related theme/topic together collaboratively. Colloquia organizers may divide the time slot being allotted as they prefer, but there should be time for opening and closing remarks, presentations by individual presenters and interactions with the audience.
● Poster: 45 minutes session. An all-day presentation medium for visually displaying a snapshot (e.g., enlarged text, graphics, diagrams, charts, tables) of a study. Each poster session will be 45 minutes for presenters to engage with conference attendees about the contents. 

3. Abstract submission

Please submit the following:
● A title of up to 12 words
● An abstract of up to 200 words
● A short bio of up to 60 words
