In recent years, he has established continuous antibiotic lavage through an ocular irrigation lens as new treatment modalities for recalcitrant infectious keratitis. His research aims to tackle challenges encountered in daily Ophthalmology practice. Using modern laboratory techniques and animal models, his dry eye research explored new directions and found new mechanisms of the conjunctiva in maintaining the ocular surface homeostasis. He discovered compounds which can stimulate the upregulation of conjunctival aquaporin and goblet cell mucins. International patent for these compounds is pending and work is under way to investigate therapeutic potentials of these compounds for dry eye treatment.
