Xiuhui Li

Xiuhui Li, M.D., Chief Physician, Professor, Director of Combined Traditional Chinese and Western Medicine Department, Beijing You-An hospatial, Capital Medical University.

Professor Li graduated from College of Traditional Chinese Medicine, Capital Medical University in 1983. Since then Professor Li has been engaged in applying traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) to the treatment of infectious diseases. She is the member of expert group of the State Administration of Traditional Chinese Medicine in the prevention and treatment of infectious diseases. She also actively participates in a lot of social work. She is the Chairman of Chinese Association of Chinese Medicine and Hepatobiliary Diseases, the Vice Chairman of Professional Committee of Infectious Diseases of Chinese Integrative Medicine Society, the Standing Committee of Internal Medicine Committee of Chinese Association of Traditional Chinese Medicine, the member of Infectious Diseases Committee of Beijing Institute of Chinese Medicine,the member of World Federation of Chinese Medicine Will breathe, the Standing Committee of Professional Committee, the Standing Committee of the Chinese Association of Infectious Diseases Professional Committee, and so on.

Clinial and Research Intesest

Since 2008, Professor Li Xiuhui served as the leader of infectious diseases collaborative group consisting of 27 units in the "Eleventh Five-Year" Plan and completed the clinical research programs about the main diseases, such as severe hepatitis, epidemic hemorrhagic fever, tuberculosis and other emerging infectious diseases. She orgnized the development Clinical Pathway for management of severe hepatitis with integrated TCM and Western medicine. Professor Li has been the primary investigator of a number of Science Foundation on Traditional Chinese Medicine prevention and treatment of infectious diseases during the national "Eleventh Five-Year", "Twelfth Five-Year" Plan.

Following the famous traditional Chinese medical expert Professor Qian Ying's academic thought, Professor Li Xiuhui has put forward "Jieduanniwan" therapeutic principle for hepatic failure. With this theory, Li’s team combined theoral TCM, Qingchanlgligan formular, with full-length colon dialysis for liver failure and improved the outco me of the severe disease. The study teamwas given "Major Scientific Achievements of the Ten Diseases of the Capital" award. Basic research on the mechanism of this formular was supported by the National Natural Science Foundation of China and the Beijing Natural Science Foundation. The preliminary study showed that Qingchangligan prescription could enhance the autophagy of D-galactosamine / lipopolysaccharide-induced acute liver failure mice with protection of liver function.

Up to now, she has published more than 100 papers, participated in editing 21 books. Because of her contribution in the clinical and basic research in this area, she has been conferred more than 10 scientific research awards.
