Research InterestsDr. Hansen’s research interests include the biology and genetics of transplantation outcome, biomarkers for the monitoring of Graft vs. Host Disease (GVHD) for prediction of disease severity and treatment response. GVHD studies include analysis of changes in the proteome and transcriptome as potential biomarkers as well as analytic approaches to a mechanistic understanding of immune system changes correlating with graft-versus-host reactivity and the development of immunological tolerance. Current genetic studies are focused on genome-wide association studies (GWAS) of single nucleotide polymorphism (SNP) and transplant outcomes including acute GVHD, chronic GVHD, relapse, opportunistic infection (CMV activation and disease, invasive fungal disease), non-relapse mortality, disease-free survival and overall survival.
